Bloodlines by Richelle Mead

This is a spin-off to the vampire academy books. In the last few Sydney Sage is introduced. An alchemist, a group of humans that cover up vampire knowledge from other humans (with a lily tattood to each of their cheeks). The group also hates the creatures and find them disgusting. She was dragged into Rose Hathaway's (A dhampir. That's a half vampire, half human creation that has to protect the moroi) mess purely because she owed someone. Anyway she ends up sort of liking Rose. This ends up with her in serious trouble obviously. This is where this book starts. She's been in bad graces with her people since. In the middle of the night her father makes her get up for an important meeting (I hate this man) . At this meeting she finds out that the moroi (the alright vampires who can use magic) queen's sister needs hiding. Half of the moroi want her dead *shocked face*

because if she is dead her sister will not be able to hold the throne. The alchemists have to help to prevent a war between moroi (because the humans will not be able to ignore it and will know about the vampires) They basically are either sending Sydney or her younger sister. Sydney hates her life, she just wants to go to college and learn new thing. She don't want her sister to end up stuck like she is, so she makes sure she gets sent. Her sister then gets pissed and I mean pissed at her (she thinks she was showing her up). On this mission Keith is her boss (Keith who happened to have raped her oldest sister) Sydney hates him. He knows, she knows so wants her off the case and spends the whole time trying to make it seem like she loves the vampire *sigh* Anyway...... When she gets there she's meet by Jill (the royal princess), Adrian (A royal moroi who is heart broken by Rose) (long story) and Eddie (A dhampir guardian). This group including Sydney is to go to a school in Palm Springs to hide Jill away. Sydney is technically finished school (home schooled) so has to have fake i.d so she's put back a year. She don't mind this as she see's it as a sort of 'pre-college' delight. They are put in together as siblings. She must take the others to feedings at this old vampires house (Clarence, who has a son Lee) (they actually have people to donate blood). This story is basically about starting to see that not everything you are told is true. She ends up liking these moroi more than some of her own kind. Through every meeting you see her loosen up a bit more, start laughing and joking with them. While Keith is horrible and snappy at her. While at the school she uncovers secret tattoo's they all get with enhancing properties inside (it helps them with knowledge, sports and what ever else you want) Sydney realises someone is putting vampire blood into them ("You what?" Yep how cool is that, I wouldn't mind a try of this myself if they were real) Sydney sets off with Adrian Ivashkov to discover who has been doing this. Keith bloody keith (the hypocrite) Her people praise her for doing such and excellent job. On top of this Lee has been dating Jill, he turns out to be a lunatic (crazy) and used to be strigoi (the crazy ass blood drinking killers with no feelings) who now want to be one again and has been killing different types to try to succeed, he them attempts with sydneys blood it all goes pear-shaped and the day is saved *YAAY!* *jumping up and down* so on and so on. This really is an interesting read. I love Richelle's world. I want to be a part of it. She has done her very best to bring these characters and all they stand for together. It is magical, the stucture off how it works. I got a bit confused at sydney though at first (in the vampire academy series i'm sure she was a jeans and converse kinda girl in this she's always smartly dressed :s like I said confused) I have not got one thing I would change. It is perfect the way it is. I want there to be another series. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE god. I may have wrote to much or I may have missed things out or I even maybe should of kept it short and sweet but this is what is written. Like it or not this book is brilliant read it please. Maybe it's just me but I love just reading about the things that happen in others lives (fantasy lives that is) and this book has it all. Sydney's life is far but boring.
