True Fire by Gary Meehan

This starts off with a girl sixteen years old, pregnant. Sneaking out of her house where she lives with her grandfather and twin sister Gwyneth. Parents long dead. Her name is Megan and her plan is to meet the father of her baby Wade, who ran off when she told him she was with child. (JERK.) She met Wade because her sister was with hid brother (Holt) and coerced her into being with him. While she's with him near the corn fields basically arguing they hear loud cries (must be fighting at a tavern) Alas no It is the whole village screaming. Wade makes her hide and goes to see what's happening (although I'm pretty certain he hide her on purpose because he knew something and was scared for her) A man in black armour cuts his head clean off with an axe. *ARGH WTF*

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

I'm so into history. I can totally get why people would want to be history professors and so on. History is a magic all on it's own!! I can't really complain about this novel. I voted for it and all sorts *fist pump* I love every character in this whole series although I have to say Gallowglass is my most favourite. A little traitorous part of me wanted Diana (a witch with a problem) to end up with him instead of Matthew (a rich as hell vampire with an attitude problem) *shocker* No really that is no lie. I love him that much! If you don't, you haven't read these books specifically shadow of night......
It begins with absence and desire.
It begins with blood and fear.
It begins with a discovery of witches.
I love it!

Half Bad by Sally Green

This book starts off with a Shakespeare's, Hamlet quote. 'There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking it makes it so.' This is a really good start. most verses, quotes or poems at the start of books do not have anything to do with what is actually happening. This does. Nathan is half white/half black witch. His mother being a white, his father being a black. Who is constantly accused of being black from the start of his life.

In the opening Nathan is in a cage. Literally locked in a cage by a white witch he must work day in, day out and run miles with a wristband on that contains acid. If he runs to far this band breaks open spilling the acid over him. At this point in the novel you are Nathan, Nathan is you. I thought she wrote this well, but at first I was a bit confused but got where she was going after the first page. He tries to escape. It do not work.
